GREEK KEY STYLES

GREEK KEY DESIGNS

THIS DESIGN WILL NOT DISAPPOINT

I was recently designing custom window treatments for a client's master bedroom and pitched her on putting tassel fringe on the drapes. She was not open to the idea of the tassel fringe and wanted a different type of embellishment on the drapes. So, I decided to do a band of decorative trim tape along the inside edge of the pinch pleated drapery panels, instead. I also added the band to the bottom hem of a boxed pleated valance going on the French door.

Of course, my choice for the decorative trim tape was the Greek key design. The Greek key design is classic, it's timeless and it adds a flair of sophistication to the drapes. Needless to say, the Greek key design is now on my list of 'Good Things'.

You can punch up a pair of plain drapery panels or a throw pillow by adding a decorative trim to it. It can also be done as a 'no sew' project. Just get some iron-on Stitch Witchery fusion tape at the fabric store and attach your trim with it. You can purchase Greek key style decorative trim tape at online sites such as Etsy, Amazon, various fabric resources, or at your local Hobby Lobby Store in the fabric department.

The Greek key design is not just for drapes and throw pillows, it can also be found on shower curtains, bed linens, furniture, accessories, and one of my favorites, the Greek key mirror. I have used the Greek key mirror several times in my room designs, to add some contemporary or transitional touches to the space.

If you are really 'crafty', there are also many stencils made in various Greek key designs.
